Interview With Deniz Isikli
Please introduce yourself in 2-5 sentences.
What made you start creating content on social media?
I created an Instagram account so long ago but never really did something with it, I only posted pictures of myself and my friends. When I turned 13 I started to explore on WeHeartIt and absolutely fell in love with the cute and aesthetic pictures, so I created an Instagram account where I used to post pictures I got from WeHeartIt. When I turned 14 I started to make my own “aesthetic” pictures.
What do you think are the current and future trends in fashion?
I think there are a lot of different fashion trends right now. There are a lot of “ugly” items that people used to think that were ugly for a long time, chunky shoes or fanny bags for example, that have become very popular recently. I’m also very happy that thrifting/vintage items have become a kind of fashion trend because the fast fashion industry is one of the most toxic industries in the world and really pollutes our planet. By buying vintage people don’t only buy unique items but they also help our planet. I personally also love thrifting and think it’s really fun to go through all the clothes and I also really like the “ugly” item trends, I also own a few fanny bags and some chunky sneakers right now hahah. When it comes to future fashion trends, I have absolutely no idea what will come to be honest. But I hope that vintage stays a trend because we really need to save our planet. There will probably return some old fashion trends in the future like mom jeans made a comeback a while ago.
Is fashion a true art form?
I do believe fashion is a true form of art. I love to see unique work of fashion students and designers who I follow on Instagram or other social media. But I don’t think the fast fashion industry/brands that mass production can be seen as art because a lot of the time they just copy popular clothing items from each other and thousands of other people have the exact same clothing item. That’s why vintage clothing is a great option if you want a unique clothing item that almost no one else has. I also really enjoy runway shows, one of my favorites was the Gucci Fall 2018 fashion show. I totally love how they used “weird” things in their show, as people with a third eye and people holding a copy of their own head.
What's your biggest goal as a creator/blogger?
My biggest dream is to make my Instagram account for my fulltime job because I really love creating cute outfits and I love interacting with my followers!
Do you want to mention anything else?
We wish you all possible success, thanks for this interview!
